Find Success on Hubpages

You might be new to Hubpages. You have written the best article that you think you can possibly write and you sit back and you wait for the money to roll in. A day goes by, a week, a month, and the article just sits there. You wonder what you have done wrong. You probably didn't do anything wrong. The problem is probably that you have not done enough, yet.

Perhaps you have been writing on Hubpages for a while. You've had some success and for a while, you were making money, but now for some reason, your articles are not doing as well as they were at first. You blame HubPages for changes in the system, but perhaps the problem isn't the system. Perhaps it is in what you haven't been doing. No doubt, actions exist in that you can improve the traffic to your Hubs.

Write More Hubs

Whether you are new to Hubpages or you have been writing for Hubpages for years, if your current hubs are not giving you the traffic you want, writing more hubs will increase the traffic to your site.

Challenge yourself to write more hubs. One way to write more hubs to challenge yourself is to write one article per day for the next 30 days. Or if you prefer, you can do as I have been doing and challenge yourself to write one article per day for 100 days.

Make Your Hubs Evergreen

A tree that is evergreen is a tree that never goes dormant or never dies, it is the same with Hubs. You need to write hubs that remain relevant. Look over your hubs. If too many of them are seasonal or are about current events long since passed, you need to write more hubs that never grow old. The number of evergreen articles that you can write is limitless.

Also, consider respinning to some of your current events or opt-ed hubs. How have your thoughts changed since writing the article? What relevance does the event have now? Is there a way to make these evergreen as well?

this does not mean that all your articles need to be relevant twelve months of the year. If you discover that you have written many articles about certain seasonal activities, perhaps one way to get more traffic during other times of the year would be by writing articles for those other times of the year. For instance, if you have a number of articles written about Christmas, write several articles about evergreen summer events. If you have a number of articles written about spring, include a number of articles written for autumn. This in effect will create an evergreen effect on your Hubpages traffic because traffic will be going to at least some of your articles all the time.

Create a series of hubs that cover different months of the year. For instance, if one of your interests or niches has to do with health care, many National Awareness months are based on different diseases. Use search engines to determine what these various months are and write articles based on these events. Do one for each of the twelve months and you have created a series that has become evergreen.

Edit The Hubs You Have Already Written

On your Hub statistics page, there is your list of hubs. At the bottom of the page is a legend that tells you the status of each of your hubs. The goal of each hub is to get them featured by Hubpages. If any of your articles are not featured, discover why they are not featured and figure out how to fix them.

If the reason the hub is not featured is that the hub is not getting traffic. Determine what you can do to improve traffic to that hub. Add pictures, add videos and edit the articles so that they are pristine and perfect.

Realize that there may be nothing that you can do to improve traffic to the hub because it is a seasonal article such as a Christmas article that is not getting traffic during the summer. This hub will no doubt pick up traffic as time marches toward that season.

You could also have a short story or poem that you wrote and you can't find any way to edit it to improve it. The way to improve traffic, in this case, is not by improving the hub. Instead, it may be necessary to extend your network with potential readers.

Update SEO Keywords and Practices

If you have noticed that some hubs which were getting a lot of traffic have suddenly died down to a crawl, the problem may be because of changes in online algorithm policies in SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

Don't overdo using keywords. It may work against you rather than for you. At one time, you couldn't have too many keywords in a paragraph, the more the better. However, that is no longer true. Limit your specific keywords to one in the heading and subheadings and the number you have in subsequent paragraphs.

Discover different keywords and use them instead of the main keywords in hub subheadings and in paragraphs when appropriate.

Choose the right keywords for drawing traffic to your hub. To help you, use Google Adwords Keyword Planner to find words that have high search rates, but low competition. Words that may have had high search rates may no longer be searched as often, or the competition for that word may have changed since you first wrote the hub.

Increase The Number Of People In Your Network

As a Hub-writer, you can increase traffic to your hub by interacting with other Hub-writers on Hubpages. Go to articles related to the topics that you write about and read what they have written and then comment on it. Don't just say "great hub". Say something specific that you liked about the hub or a question that you have for the Hub-writer who wrote the hub. Because you have commented on this Hub-writer's hub, there is a link back to you and your hubs. Most of the Hub-writers that I know are great about coming back and checking out your hubs and commenting on them. This helps build traffic.

Facebook: Make Friends on Facebook, then let your friends know about your hubs, become an expert in a niche and then join groups in which to share your Hubpages. Don't just post articles, but interact with others. Build relationships and help others whenever you can. Remember to make friends, not enemies.

Twitter: Follow as many people as possible on Twitter who have an interest in topics that you write about. Post articles to display throughout the day using an app such as social oomph. Throughout the day, tweet and retweet and use hashtags in order to build relationships.

Pinterest: Pin your article photos to your boards and connect with others who have similar photos on their boards.

Formatting Your Hubs

  • Increase your traffic by making your hubs easier to read by using subheadings. Also include numbered and bulleted items when appropriate.
  • Remember to include a hub summary so that your hub can be found on search engines.
  • Use lots of pictures to show how things are done.
  • Use thumbnails to make hub loading faster.
  • Videos not only add polish to your article, but it provides another location from which to draw traffic. Videos posted on uTube can be linked to your article as well.

Reach Out And Grab Traffic

Another way that you can build traffic to your hubs includes adding connections to your hubs through your blogs. Write blog entries and include links to hubs that you have written related to the blog entries that you have written.

Include your hubs in online magazines and let your friends know that they are included.

Create and build newsletters and include links to your Hubpages.

Provide thoughtful comments on popular blogs that relate to your topics, including a signature line that will help drive traffic to your blog where you have connections to your hubs.
